1744 Golf Rules Modernized
- Play from a teeing area within one club length of the hole.
- The ball must be teed on the ground.
- The ball played from the teeing area must not be substituted.
- Loose impediments may not be removed to improve a lie, except on the putting green within one club length of the ball.
- A ball in water may be lifted, dropped behind the hazard, and played under a one-stroke penalty.
- When two balls touch, the ball to be played first must be lifted until the other ball is played.
- A player must play only their own ball.
- A lost ball requires return to the previous spot and play under a one-stroke penalty.
- A player may not mark a line to the hole.
- A ball accidentally deflected by a person, animal, or object is played as it lies.
- A stroke counts if the club breaks during the downswing.
- The ball farthest from the hole is played first.
- Maintenance features of the links are not hazards and grant free relief.
