From a Standing Game to a Standing Club
For some twenty-five years the Common & Recent Bogey Golf Club existed the way most good things among friends do — by habit and affection, with no charter and no minutes. On the Summer Solstice, Sunday, June 21, 2026, the Charter Members made it official.
At the 2026 Annual Meeting the Members adopted the Bylaws and Standing Rules, and elected the Club’s first officers — Mark Ayers as Captain and Dean Chase as Secretary-Treasurer. The Club that had run on custom since around 2000 now runs on a constitution, with the customs written down where everyone can find them.
The Club keeps two homes online, and the line between them is deliberate:
- crbgc.org — this site — is the formal record: bylaws, standing rules, notices, and minutes.
- The notes site is the informal side: essays, course writing, and history, where the Club thinks out loud.
The 2027 Annual Meeting is set for the next Summer Solstice — Monday, June 21, 2027 — at Forest Dunes Golf Club in Roscommon, Michigan.
